Hire an expert main designer for your project to handle building permit issues with the municipality. The main designer may be the architect or in many cases the structural designer of the project (depending on the municipality). It is worth hiring an active and professional structural designer and the responsible site manager already at the draft phase so the structural boundaries can be taken in to account when applying for the permit and there is no need to alter the main plans after obtaining the permit.
